On this episode of the Nebraska Wedding Podcast, Kelly is joined by the talented, and oh, so lovely Jessica Blex.
Jessica Blex , out of Lincoln Nebraska, has been a photographer for the past nine years, photographing weddings for the past eight. She focuses on “hybrid” photography, using film for much of her work. She is an advocate for “timeless” photography, staying away from trendy editing and trying to focus on capturing the natural essence of each moment. Her beautifully unique work has been featured on Style Me Pretty , Gray Likes Weddings , and Martha Stewart’s wedding blog .
As an experienced photographer, Jessica has amazingly helpful insight into wedding photography both on the photographer and on the client’s side to share. In fact, this conversation was so great it had to be split into two jam-packed episodes!
If you’re planning a wedding , if you’re someone who works weddings, or if you’re a photographer in the area… Part one is for YOU.
If you are a photographer who is interested in getting into weddings, Part 2 will speak directly to you. You won’t want to miss it. Be sure to catch Part 2 on Friday, June 7th!
In this episode, Jessica and Kelly discuss Blex’s journey to where she is now, the struggles she has faced over the last nine years as a wedding photographer (including forgetting to take care of herself first, and how fitness and self-care completely turned that around!), the mistakes she has made and learned from (including a shattered hard drive and lost pictures. Everyone’s worst nightmare, right?) coping with creative burnout as a wedding professional, the immense value of ongoing education and learning from others in the field, her philosophy on a timeless aesthetic, her challenging transition into film, her gear, and fantastic advice on what is truly important on a couple’s wedding day.
